About the Registry

This policy covers how the Registry treats personal information that is collected during self-registration, and how we treat the updated contact information that you provide us. "Personal information" is information that identifies you such as your name, address, email address, and phone number.

How We Use Your Information

When you update your contact information on the WTC Health Registry website, we ask for information such as your name, telephone number, home address and other information so that we may stay in touch with you. The data are protected by Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption. The data are then moved to a database server at RTI International.

RTI International is the company responsible for data collection for the WTC Health Registry. Once the data are transferred to RTI, access is restricted through RTI network security and SQL Server username/password authentication. RTI International is collecting information for the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the federal Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry. Access is given to authorized staff that have signed and sworn to formal, binding confidentiality agreements.

The Registry web site automatically records the following information on our server logs from your browser:
Including your computer's Internet Protocol (IP) address
Domain information
The address of the web site you are using to register
The date and time you arrived at our site and how long you spent there
The pages you visit

This information is used to diagnose problems with our server and administer the web site. Information logged by our server is kept strictly confidential and is not disseminated to anyone else.

Information is Not Disclosed to Third Parties

Information is not provided for advertising, marketing or other purposes. We do not sell your e-mail address, your name, or your personal demographic information to anyone. Neither the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene nor the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry will share any of your personal information with any other individuals, organizations, or government agencies, including U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (formerly known as INS).

Cookies

This is a cookie-free site, so no one can tell by looking at your PC that you have visited the Registry web site. (Cookies are small files that a web server automatically sends to your PC when you browse certain web sites.)
